Spoilers: Set following the events of Band Candy.
Feedback: Yes please! This is my first Buffy fic so I'd love to hear what you think.
Comments: Seeing as how Band Candy remains one of my favorite ever episodes, I just had to write my first fic based on the events of that, and with some B/G romance of course! Hope you enjoy it. Oh and I realise this sort of messes up the scene in Earshot where Buffy first learns about what happened with Giles and Joyce, but hey it's fic so let's just ignore that small fact shall we?

Buffy paced up and down on the sidewalk outside Giles house, wondering whether talking to him was such a good idea. For a week now she'd been avoiding bringing up what had happened between Giles and her mom. But she couldn't put it off anymore. She needed to know.

Giles opened the front door and when he saw her he immediately looked concerned.

"Buffy, what are you doing here? Is something wrong?"

"Geez, must there always be something wrong? Can't I just pop over for a Slayer/Watcher chat?"

Giles just glared at her and Buffy knew she couldn't fool him that easily. She let out a deep sigh.

"Okay fine you've got me. It's not a social call. We need to talk."

Not looking surprised at all, Giles stepped aside and allowed Buffy to enter, closing the door behind her. Buffy walked over and sunk down on the couch, refusing to meet Giles' gaze as he sat down next to her.

"Well?"

Buffy looked down at her hands.

"You're always straight with me aren't you Giles?"

"Why yes of course Buffy. Have I ever given you reason to doubt my trust?"

Buffy shot a glance at him and Giles realised that he hadn't exactly been infallible. He simply sighed.

"Perhaps I should rephrase that. Do you trust me Buffy?"

Buffy nodded without a second thought.

"Of course I do Giles. You're my Watcher. We've been through so much together. I trust you with my life."

"So you should also know that you are able to talk to me about anything. I know there is something on your mind. Now let's hear it."

Buffy sighed again and leant back against the couch, closing her eyes. Giles took the opportunity to let his gaze travel over her body. A flowery skirt short enough to reveal a lot of her long, tanned legs and a white singlet top that didn't leave much to the imagination. Giles took a deep breath and let his eyes meet hers again, surprised to see her staring back at him.

"Um you were saying?"

"I wasn't saying anything. You were staring."

Giles felt the blush rise in his cheeks and he looked down to stare at a spot on the carpet rather than meet her gaze. Buffy took advantage of the opportunity just as he had, and ran her gaze over him. Dark trousers and a light blue shirt unbuttoned at the collar. She could see a sprinkling of chest hair and suddenly had the urge to run her hands through it.

Buffy shook herself from those thoughts and let her eyes meet Giles' again, seeing that he was now staring back at her. They sat like that for a moment, both seeing the same desire and fear reflected in each other's eyes. Giles suddenly shook his head, as if awakening from a trance, and he looked back at the floor.

"Sorry I um, what was it you wanted to talk to me about?"

"You and my mother."

At hearing that Giles immediately looked up. He looked at Buffy, wondering exactly where she was going with this.

"Yes what about us?"

"What exactly happened when you guys were under the influence of that candy?"

"You saw us. You know what happened Buffy."

Buffy shook her head.

"No. You said I could talk to you about anything. I would have thought that would also mean you'd be honest with me."

Giles sighed and took off his glasses, rubbing the bridge of his nose with his other hand. He leant back against the couch as well and turned his head to look at his Slayer.

"Are you sure you can handle the truth Buffy?"

She paused for a moment, as if trying to decide. Eventually she nodded slowly.

"I'm sure."

Giles took another deep breath before continuing. He looked down at that spot on the carpet again as he spoke.

"We had sex."

"Where?"

Giles looked back at her, somewhat surprised at her reaction.

"Do you really want details?"

Buffy shook her head.

"No. But I do need to know why."

Giles sighed yet again.

"I was a teenager again Buffy. Being a teenager yourself I'm sure you realise that sex is quite often on the mind."

Buffy felt herself blushing but she continued, hoping that Giles didn't notice.

"That doesn't explain why it was mom. Why her?"

"She was there."

Giles immediately gave Buffy an apologetic look, knowing that hadn't come out the way he intended.

"Truth? If it weren't Joyce it would have been someone else. During my Ripper days I was fairly, ah, well yes."

Giles stuttered, suddenly not really believing he was having this discussion with Buffy. But what he still needed to know was why she had come here, why she wanted to know this.

"May I ask you a question?"

Buffy nodded.

"Why is it causing you such bother?"

"Is that your English way of asking me why it's upsetting me to know you had sex with my mother?"

"Well yes."

Buffy fidgeted nervously on the couch, staring down at her hands. She knew the answer to that question, she just didn't know if Giles would want to hear it.

"It doesn't matter. Look now I know what happened I can just go."

Buffy stood but wasn't even a meter away from the couch before Giles had jumped to his feet and blocked her path. He raised his hand and placed a finger under her chin, lifting her face so their eyes met.

"Why?"

Buffy took a deep breath; just the brief touch of his hand on her skin had sent a shiver through her body. When it became clear she wasn't going to answer him just yet, Giles continued.

"Could it be jealousy? Could it be that you wish it were you who I'd taken advantage of on top of that police car? Could it be that you wish it were you I wanted?"

"Don't you want me?"

Buffy finally found her voice and when Giles looked into her eyes he saw not only desire but fear as well. Without hesitation he leant down and brushed his lips softly over hers. It was the briefest of kisses and left them both wanting more. Giles let his other hand slide around to rest on the small of Buffy's back.

"Of course I want you luv. You're the only one I've ever wanted. I was just worried you wouldn't want me back."

Buffy looked into Giles' eyes and saw the same fear that he'd seen in hers. He was just as afraid as she was, and strangely that brought her comfort.

"Oh God Giles. How could I not want you? I've wanted you for so long. So many times I wanted to kiss you, to touch you, to show you how much I.."

Buffy paused and Giles moved his face closer to hers again, their lips just inches apart.

"How much you what?"

Buffy smiled.

"How much I love you."

Giles returned her smile.

"I love you too Buffy."

Those were the last words spoken before their lips came together once more. Giles wrapped his arms around Buffy's slender body, picking her up as her legs wrapped around his waist. They eventually broke away to take a breath and Buffy looked into her Watcher's eyes and smiled.

"Sure you're not under the influence of cursed candy again Giles?"

Giles laughed and placed a soft kiss on the tip of Buffy's nose.

"Well I'm definitely under the influence of something."

Buffy raised an eyebrow but Giles simply made his way to the stairs; slowly walking up them with his Slayer still wrapped up in his strong embrace. He smiled at her again and kissed her tenderly.

"Under the influence of Slayer, not candy."
