This was written for Lily, Donna and Bored, when they went to Atlantic City. It also marked the end of a month-long B/G writing block... thank God!
This was based on some rumors for season 5 that Buffy and Giles would go to England to face the Council. This story takes place after that event assuming that it marked the 'reconciliation' with the Council.
He rushed into the kitchenette expecting to find Buffy in severe danger. Instead he found his Slayer holding up a piece of paper and staring at him.
"What is this?"
He took the sheet from her and skimmed over it.
"It's an invitation to some Watcher/Slayer training."
"This weekend! And when were you planning on telling me about it?"
"Not at all."
"Only the fact that you laughed at me the last times I proposed we go."
"Of course I did! Why would I drive 10 hours into nowhere just to take a look at a couple of incompetent would-be Watchers. If I want to have a good laugh, I visit Xander and Anya."
"Then why are you so upset?"
"This is in Atlantic City! Not a bunch of houses in the woods. Atlantic City!"
"Your point being?"
"That if the Council volunteers to pay for a nice weekend in Atlantic City, I'll even put up with pre-Wesleys."
Giles just looked at her.
"Was that absolutely necessary?"
"Oh, come on Giles. He made Wesley look like a pro. And I mean 'Are you not used to being given orders?'- Wesley."
A smile crossed his face and she smiled back, then they both spoke at once.
"Buffy, I have to admit Mr. Neville still has a lot to learn, but you didn't have to embarrass him quite so much. Especially in front of his Slayer. I doubt he'll be able to look her in the eye again at least for the time of this training and probably not for some time after that and even then it will be different."
"Different isn't necessarily bad. And it's not my fault that he is incompe- inexperienced."
"How will she respect him from now on."
"Aww, come on. Nothing I do or say could change what she thinks of him."
"What makes you say that?"
"Giles, not even you can be so blind."
He stopped and looked at Buffy who gave him a "Giles, this is so obvious it won't even be worth making fun of later, because it's so pathetic"-look.
"She has a crush on him?"
"Crush, love, call what you like. Embarrassment or not, I think she would carry him home to England if she had to - barefoot."
"Do you really think so?"
"Didn't you see that look on her face? How she tried not to look at him *all* the time and how it lit up whenever he looked at her and even more when he smiled at her. When he gave her that little squeeze I was afraid she would be bouncing around the room for the rest of the day."
"Now that you say it." He began walking again. "I never would have thought that..."
"A young girl could fall in love with a handsome older British gentleman who came to save her and help her in her fight against darkness? Yeah, *that's* really hard do believe."
"Forgive me, but when I recall *our* first meeting, your reaction wasn't... favorable."
"Well, I didn't want to be saved. I just wanted to be normal. I wanted so many things." She frowned looking at a spot far away for a second. "But in the end I couldn't help it."
"Respecting you and..."
He looked at her, but she looked at the ground.
"So where are we going today? And no museums!"
"But Atlantic City has an excellent exhib-"
"All right. You can go to a museum. I thought we could spend the weekend together. Do some Watcher/Slayer bonding, but apparently you'd rather take a look at some old books or cups or whatever than be with your Slayer."
He glared at her.
Her face lit up.
"The Casino of course!"
Buffy stood in front of Giles, her hand held up, making a 'give me more fast' movement.
"We've been here for less than twenty minutes. If you keep spending like this you'll have nothing left in less than an hour."
"Giles, the point of this is, you play, you lose, you play, you lose, you play, you win and then you can spent the rest of the evening spending the money you won."
"I thought the point was winning the money and taking it home."
"Oh, please, only pathetic dreamers would think that. It's just entertainment and like the movies you have to pay a little for it. And hey, if you do win, it's a great bonus and you can tell all your friends about it forever. Now give me some coins."
He glared at her then gave her a few coins.
"And if you don't win?"
"Then I'll just try to find a rich man, who needs a good luck charm." At his slightly shocked look, she laughed at him. "Giles, relax, have some fun. Here. See this?" She held up a coin. "Feel it." She put it in his hand and closed it with hers. "And now feel the adrenaline as you plan on pushing it in the slot. You'll pull the lever and one after another the symbols will come up and perhaps you'll be covered with a fortune you never dreamed of."
He gave her a look, but kept his hand that she was still holding in place.
"Okay, then think 'What a waste of time. I could be at the museum. Maybe I can punish her for my own weakness against her pout.'"
"I wouldn't want to punish you."
"But the rest is true?"
"Giles, just do it. I give you this coin. Try to make the best of it. Good luck."
She squeezed his hand and started to insert coins into three slot machines, pulling the levers. Giles looked at her, then the coin she had placed in his hand. He sighed and carefully inserted the coin. He pulled the lever and the three cylinders started to move to a blur, then the first stopped. A cherry. Giles felt a slight increase of his heart rate.
The second symbol came up. Again a cherry. He heard Buffy mutter a curse, when she wasn't lucky with her symbols, but he kept his eyes transfixed on the last cylinder. It became slow and stopped. Cherry.
Before he even grasped it the machine began spitting out coins.
Buffy began picking up the coins and stuffing them in his pockets.
"I should have taken my purse. Damn me for listening to you."
He kept staring at the stream of coins until it suddenly stopped.
"You know, you *could* give me a hand here."
"What? Oh, of course, I'm sorry."
"Your pockets are full. Is it okay if I carry some of the rest for you."
"Of course, I mean, it's yours anyway. It was your coin."
"Which I gave to you. This is your win."
"Buffy, I cannot accept it."
"Well, then do me the favor and spend it. Have some fun. Please Giles. For me."
They smiled at each other.
"Don't be upset."
"I am not. I just find that I like winning a lot more."
They smiled at each other.
They just watched the others throwing the dice. Then suddenly a man approached Buffy.
She gave him a look and said "Hi" in a tone that meant "Bye".
They all watched some more. Then the guy spoke to Buffy again.
"Did you have luck today?"
"I don't play. I'm a good luck charm. *His*."
She looked at Giles, who was surprised but then couldn't help smiling at the man. They watched the game again.
Then when Giles picked up the dice for another try, Buffy kissed him on the mouth. It was over too quickly for him to respond, but a shadow of red appeared on his cheeks and he smiled. Buffy bit her lip to keep herself from giggling.
What a wonderful day. He had really relaxed after winning and now she even had the chance to kiss him.
Giles threw the dice.
Buffy's eyes grew large.
"How could I not with a lucky charm like you?"
Her face lit up.
Giles kept playing - and winning. Buffy kissed him before every game and the kisses became slightly longer and Giles took every chance to respond.
"Buffy, maybe we should stop. Sooner or later we'll lose."
"Yeah, you're right. But..."
"If you win one more time, we could take a room at the Taj Mahal."
If he had held anything in his hands he would have dropped it.
"I mean, I always wanted to stay there and... you don't have to. It's your money, if you'd rather stop now and save it or buy a book or some-"
He nodded. "A night at the Taj Mahal or..."
"Thank you." She whispered it in a way that almost made him forget where he was.
He took the dice in his hands and leaned down.
'One last kiss.'
He didn't know that Buffy thought the exact same thing, but it soon became evident in the way they kissed each other. They put everything in that last kiss. They overcame their fear to give away too much of their secret feelings and the kiss deepened. Neither of them wanted to stop, their tongues had finally met and in their eagerness to learn each other inside out, they both refused to think about the fact that this would change their relationship irrevocably.
Without looking or stopping his passionate exchange with Buffy he threw the dice. Then he heard the crowd cheer.
They kept kissing each other until Giles finally pulled away.
They stared at each other, not able to say anything.
"Sir, would you like to keep playing?"
"What? No, thank you, I'll take it."
The door closed behind them and they stood in the large room alone. Then Buffy slowly took a look at the bathroom and walked into the bedroom. When she didn't come out for a while Giles followed her.
He found her standing in front of a large heart shaped bed. She didn't say anything, just stared at it.
"I... I could sleep on the couch if you..."
She suddenly turned around to him.
They looked at each other for an endless moment before Buffy took a step towards him.
"I always wanted to spend a night here but that's not the only reason I-"
He stopped her with a kiss. Buffy kissed back wrapping her arms around him and slowly walking towards the bed. They lay down together, never stopping their kiss.
Buffy pushed his jacket off his shoulders and started unbuttoning his shirt, while Giles explored her neck and earlobe with his lips and tongue.
When she finally got his shirt off, she started kissing down his chest. When she ran her tongue over his nipple he moaned loudly.
She looked up and smiled and he took her mouth in another fervent kiss.
He only stopped to rid her of her blouse and shirt. Then he opened her bra and cupped her full breasts with his hands. Buffy shrugged out of the bra and he began rubbing circles on her nipples with his thumbs.
Buffy's hands travelled down his chest and over the bulge in his pants. He moaned in her mouth and their tongues began a sensuous dance again. She unzipped his pants and together they got him out of them and while they were at it also removed Buffy's trousers.
She straddled him and rubbed herself on his erection. He kissed down her throat and nibbled on her breasts.
"Oh. Giles... Rupert."
She moved a little faster, her need becoming more urgent. When Giles licked over her nipples, she couldn't wait any longer. She got off of him and removed her panties. Then she grabbed his underpants and pulled them over his hard shaft. She pulled his underpants of and grabbed his stiff penis.
She pumped once, then twice more before licking the underside.
She looked up and he grabbed her and pushed her down on the bed settling between her legs. He kissed her mouth, then breasts before moving further down. He licked along her slit and when he tasted her juices he wasted no more time and entered her in one hard stroke.
Buffy screamed out in ecstasy and Giles moaned. They kissed each other again, before Buffy squeezed her inner muscles around his bursting shaft. He started pumping into her, at first slowly, but when she urged him on and thrust faster he increased the speed. Their bodies met again and again, sliding along and into each other, touching in places they had formerly only dreamed of.
Their movement grew frantic until the tension that had build between them over the day (and the four years before that) came to an explosive conclusion. They both screamed out their orgasm, holding each other tightly.
Then there was panting and kissing - and 'I love you's. Over and over they whispered the words they hadn't been able to say for all that time.
They lay cuddled together.
"You really are a lucky charm."
"I'm lucky that's for sure."
He kissed her temple.
"What would you have done if I had lost."
She kissed his neck and nibbled on his ear.
"I just hope not as loud."
He smiled and she looked at him.
"I don't think we would have stuck with the Council's rules for long anyway."
"Well, we could have saved the money for the trip to England."
Buffy suddenly became serious.
"Don't say that."
"I'm sorry. I know that if we hadn't gotten back with the Council, they wouldn't have invited us and we wouldn't have spent this wonderful night here."
"It's not that. Well, at least not only. It's... that's where I realized that I loved you. On our trip to England."
"Yeah. You seemed... different. More relaxed. The way you laughed with your friends and showed me everything. And when you told the Council how great a Slayer I was I thought my heart would explode. I'm sorry it took me so long."
"Don't look back. It's the now that counts."
She snuggled closer to him.
"Too bad we can only afford one night here."
"It will always remain our first night."
"Yes. The first of many."
They kissed each other again.
"We'll just have to be more quiet tomorrow."
"Our room is next to Neville's."
"Maybe we can give him an idea that will make Claire happy."
"Maybe instead of matchmaking you should concentrate on making me happy."
"I'll see what I can do."
She kissed him again...
