NOTE: Read the transcript of "Earshot" yesterday and this is my way of dealing.
They sat at the library table. Buffy was cleaning the gash, the tree had left on his forehead.
"It was the candy."
She continued to tend his wound.
"If it weren't the candy I'd be..., instead of just freaked out."
"You'd be what?"
She inspected the wound.
She went to get a sticking-plaster.
When she got back he asked.
"I don't know. I... it's hard for me to see her with someone."
She applied the plaster.
He raised an eyebrow and hissed at the pain that caused.
"No doing that with your eyebrow for some time, Giles."
"I understand, why you wouldn't want your mother with someone else. It's because some part of you still believes, she belongs to your dad only, but why would you..."
"I don't know. And it's not like I don't want you to meet someone, because I do. I want you to be happy. You probably deserve it more than anyone I know."
She smiled at him.
"I appreciate it, but don't you think your mother has the same right?"
"You're not in love with her, are you?"
That idea obviously upset her.
After Buffy sighed in relief he added almost inaudibly and apparently to himself.
"Not with her."
"I wanted to thank you."
"For being... for caring. It's quite funny I think, that Cordelia was the only person who didn't hide anything from me. I mean I guess, Oz thought some pretty weird stuff... anyway, what I wanted to say is: you cared for me and your thoughts showed me nothing else but that concern and, well, affection."
He smiled at her.
"*You* *didn't* think about having sex with my mom."
"No, I didn't. And I don't. It was the candy and nothing but the candy. To be quite frank, and I hope you won't tell Joyce about that...", to which Buffy nodded, "... but I think Ripper would have taken almost anyone, who would have let him. I like your Mom, but my feelings for her center around her being my Slayers mother."
She smiled at him.
"It's how I feel. You don't have to thank me for that."
"I'm thanking you for letting me know. For not having any secrets."
He suddenly blushed and looked away.
"Thanks for the plaster and everything..."
He tried to get up, but she pushed him back into the chair.
"It's nothing, Buffy."
"Well, if it's nothing, you can tell me."
"Didn't you learn to appreciate the privacy of thoughts during your experience?"
"With the others maybe, but not with you. Giles, I'm always supposed to tell you everything. There shouldn't be any secrets between us."
"But there are. What about Angel? I know that you love him and we both know that you two can never be... What are your feelings on that? What will you do? Do you really think you only want to be friends, Buffy?"
"I... I don't know. I'll try to be honest, Giles. But the thing is, I love Angel, and I know that we can never really be together, and yet I want him so much that I got jealous when he kissed Faith. I wish we could be only friends, but I guess friends don't get jealous."
Giles had a peculiar look on his face and blushed again.
"Buffy, I can't."
"Giles, I was honest with you. It's your turn."
She interrupted him, angry now.
"Giles, I'm telling you my innermost secrets. How horrible can the things be that you try t-"
"I love you."
"-o hide from... You... You're not talking about a father's or a Watcher's love, are you?"
He shook his head.
"My god, Giles... I never..."
She looked around her thoughts racing through her head.
Then she got up and walked towards the door. When she wanted to open it, his hand came up behind her and held it closed.
"Buffy, you can't just run away like that. We have to talk about it."
"You love me."
"Yes, I do, but... that doesn't change anything between us. I would never... it's just a fantasy, Buffy. You can still trust me. With everything. You know how I felt: caring and affection. Those are my feelings for you. That other part is mostly... it's just a dream."
She looked up at him.
"I'm sorry, Buffy."
At her confused and slightly hurt look he added.
"Not about loving you. I... Do you know now, why I didn't want to tell you?"
She just looked at him and took his left hand. She pulled it up and placed it on her chest, over her heart. Her frantically beating heart.
They looked at each other and he tried to read in her eyes.
She took his other hand and placed it on one of her breasts, moving the hand over her heart to the other breast.
"I think my heart is going to explode."
With that she dragged his face to hers and kissed him. Passionately. Ravishing his mouth until he responded not only with his own mouth and tongue, but also by starting to move his fingers over her breasts.
She suddenly pushed him away.
He moved his hands away as if they were on fire.
"Buffy, I'm so sorry..."
"It's... Maybe I *did* go crazy, after all."
He smiled a sad smile.
She looked at him.
"Because how else could you explain that I think I'm in love with you."
He gasped in surprise. She smiled at him, still a little overwhelmed about what she had just found out about herself.
As an answer she pulled him into her arms again, kissing him senseless.
When they came up for air, Buffy chuckled.
"Who would have thought, that your having sex with my mom could have such pleasant consequences."
He smiled down at her.
"I love you."
"I sure as hell never imagined, that I would ever say that to someone who had sex with my mom, but... I love you, too."
